I am having a fabulous visit home to Glasdrum country (Lochaber on the west coast of Scotland), the highlight of which is getting stocked in the new Highland Bookshop on Fort William High Street (http://www.highlandbookshop.com/).
It’s so nice to see a new independent bookshop, and what a fabulous selection they have; I’m honoured to be featured. With most of my sales to date having been achieved via social media and through Amazon, it’s a special moment for this Indie Author to have my paperbacks stocked in an actual shop. I am delighted with the look of my book covers, designed by the very creative Mark Thomas (https://reedsy.com/mark-thomas), and it is joyful indeed to see them on a table with some extremely reputable authors.
Other highlights of this trip have been taking a walk through Glen Nevis gorge to Steall Falls, the location of a key scene towards the end of Glasdrum. Thankfully the weather was a bit better than the mist and rain in the book.
I also visited Camusdarroch near Mallaig, which is the beach beside Vicky and Louise’s cottage in Glasdrum. I planned to swim but the gale from the north was off-putting so I just posed with my books instead. Dressed for Tunisia but in Glasdrum country. Bloody freezing.
No visit to Mallaig is complete for me without a pint of prawns in the café on the front. It gave me an opportunity to take a photo of the harbour, where Philip, the District Council’s Area Manager, is found floating and very much dead at the start of Book 3. There’s quite a story about what happened to him – watch this space!
If you are interested in trying either of my books, here are the links to read reviews or purchase (or if you are in Fort William, please visit the Highland Bookshop on the High Street!):
